UPDF arrest LC1 murder suspect
The UPDF on Monday arrested a Karimojong warrior suspected to have shot dead a local leader in Nakapiripirit district two months ago. The army also recovered one gun with 23 rounds of live ammunition.
Loduk Longolo was arrested from his hide out in Acelel village in Nadunget sub-county in Moroto district after a tip off by the local residents.
However, the suspect is also accused of trying to strangle a relative in the house at the time of killing.
When he abandoned the mission he was identified by the relative.
The UPDF 3rd Division spokesperson Capt. Henry Obbo said the army had arrested Loduk in connection of killing the local leader.
Lochoro Lothia an LC1 of Kamatur village Lorengedwat sub-county in Nakapiripirit district was shot dead when suspected warriors forced their way into his homestead at the beginning of May. The motive of his killings has not been established.
Obbo said the warriors may be part of the big racket that has been terrorizing the villages in Moroto.
He said the army will continue hunting for those who commit atrocities with the aim of going into hiding.
Obbo added that this could be achieved by the communities getting into making secret reports to security agencies.
“Security in Karamoja requires a joint effort so as to realize achievements,” he said.
